A trip to NSW would not be the same without a trip to Nimbin . I think the photos of the town explain the hippy laid back town     

The Mountain Australia

A visit to Julie and Micks Mountain would not be complete without a visit to the edge of the mountain. A visit to a protected 200 year plus tree. And a visit with Rosie the resident pea hen. And an opportunity for Mik to pick avocados      

Nimbin, Lismore and Julie and Miks Mountain

We headed over to Georgica NSW to visit with Mik's sister Julie and hubby Mick. Their last name Mountain so it is only fitting that they should buy a Mountain :). Not just any Mountain but over 100 acres of forest and protected land with a small cozy home. 

We arrive to find they have prepared a brand new bedroom for us :) 

 Each morning and early evening the wallabies visited. And the first day we met 3 new friends a snake a spider and a scorpion .. luckily non poisonous :) but you soon get used to them.

Photos to follow while in Fiji we took a boat trip out to a small south sea island to snorkel from the beach lots of fish to see .. great food .. Fijian dancers and a great time was had by all 

Brisbane to surfers paradise

We landed in brisbane and got our hire car.. 

Note to anyone hiring a car- make sure you have the phone number to arrange the shuttle pick-up when you land.. There are booths for many of the car hire places.. Ace was cheaper but we had to phone them from the phone near the info desk.

Our hotel Mantra circle on cavill was lovely... Full suite and kitchen.. 3 pools. Lovely view of the river. Close to beach and lots of shops.. Kookeburras birds, joined us for breakfast on our balcony. Amazing. 

 

 

Waxy Irish pub staggering distance home :). Good Irish food.

 

Beach is great and if you surf it's perfect.  

We took a trip on the tram to Broad Beach. Easy to get too. Lovely quieter beach. Great Swiss ice cream one block back form the beach ... Market was on when we went lots of cool stuff to buy. I managed to get stung by a jelly fish.. Didn't realize at first, wasn't too bad.. And hubby didn't have to pee on it.  Didn't stop me enjoying jumping the waves and gives me something to talk about. The jelly fish was a lions mane and if you stay within the signs you probably won't get stung.. I drifted out of the areas. Trust me :).

 

Fiji

Fijian Dancers -an evening of entertainment at radisson Blu hotel, denaura, the Fijian people are very friendly. Hello is BULA in Fijian and everywhere you go strangers welcome you with BULA. 

Fiji cava

Fiji, cava is given with a specific ceremony and is supposed to relax and calm you. All I know is I purchased heaps of stuff from his store afterwards. Lol. I did still haggle the prices down to half price 👀 

First stop Fiji

So the flights are booked and Tim from round the world travel is booking our seats and hopefully getting us larger upgrades wherever possible. thanks Tim.

Next book all the places to stay . I must admit this takes time and lots of choices. 

Wherever possible we were looking for a place to stay with a swimming pool or near to beaches . Or if lucky both :)

We start our travels in Fiji.

It takes two days to get there, with the time difference, two flights about 13 hours total, so for this stop we are going a little more luxury. After researching hotels all over the island we wanted somewhere that you could also walk to the main town and explore the neighbourhood on foot. We also tried numerous sites such as tripadviser (always a great  place to read reviews). Then find out the best deals and finally check dates of arrival and departure and double check again. Our booking is with hotels.com

We chose danaurau island, Raddison Blu near Nadi. Who knew it isn't and Island so I passed it by on first look then after reading about it realized hey it's not an island. Can't wait to tell you all about this place. It sounds lovely with a pool and seaside. We plan to relax a little here after all the planning :)

We have booked pick up from airport and will most likely have someone local to the island drive us around for a day to see all the island. Some of the places to see. Lautoka market. Blue ginger Cafe and Smugglers cove beach. Plus we plan a boat trip out to the smaller islands.

There are so many choices the world is definitely your Oyster.

We would love you to follow us on our journey to Fiji, Brisbane and Perth in Australia, Bali, Singapore, Mauritius, Rome, Naples, Great Britain, Toronto and then home to Vancouver.

We start our journey around the world on 24th of February 2017.

Just want you to know that although I say retired- we are semi retired and have work to return to :)

*We started by reviewing the round the world travel sites.
We went with RTW to arrange all our flights. They quote all flights in the currency of your country In our case Canadian dollars and gave us one person to contact to modify all our stops. I had a lot of fun looking at all the possibilities easily on line, before choosing our locations.


*We arranged for someone to live in our home ( and look after our cat) while we are away.


*You may want to house swap, or put your house for rent with VRBO or airbnb.
The same would apply if you are renting ( Note: You may also need permission to sub-let) or (if you are in a condo you may need strata permission).
Or just consider selling your home and going on the trip before purchasing.
